Legendary actor Dilip Kumar was laid to rest at the Juhu Cemetry on July 7. He passed away at 98 due to age-related illness. The actor breathed his last during the early hours on Wednesday at a Mumbai hospital. His last rites took place yesterday. Dilip Kumar’s funeral took place with full State honours. In a tweet, a day after Kumaar Saab’s demise, his wife, actress Saira Banu thanks honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray as the actor’s funeral took place with State honours.

Faisal Farooqui who made the announcement about the legendary actor’s demise shared a video from Dilip Kumar’s funeral. He posted a video of the thespian being draped in the tricolour. Faisal tweeted, “State funeral protocols - #DilipKumar saab being draped with the beautiful tricolor.” Replying to the post, Saira Banu sent a message from Dilip Kumar’s official Twitter handle. She wrote, “Thank you @PMOIndia and @CMOMaharashtra for according Dilip Sahib burial with state funeral protocols. - Saira Banu Khan”

Dilip Kumar was honoured with many awards and accolades during his 50-year-long career. He was honoured with the Padma Bhushan in 1991 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994. Kumaar Saab was also the holder of the most Filmfare Award for Best Actor wins and the inaugural recipient of the award too. He made his debut in the year 1944 and was best known for his films like Kranti, Shakti, Mughal-E-Azam, Ganga Jamuna, and many others. Dilip Kumar is survived by his wife, Saira Banu.
